Wandering ways

Sid crept along over the plains. He moved silently through the tall grass, keeping himself invisible but for a twitch of grass along where he was walking. He didnt know where he was going. Because he had only just arrived.

Out of nowhere, he had suddenly found himself waking up in a feild of grass in the middle of nowhere. He assumed he must have gotten sick and ran out of the city to get away from the danger to get better for awhile, but was too high a fever and passed out. That seemed the most rational explanation at the time. But this didnt seem like the area of Texas. Not at all. Czedric was confused, but couldnt think of any other way to explain where he was and why. So he just decided to the next best thing when you dont know where you are.

Find somewhere else. And so he had been walking along the grassy plains for some time now. And started to get a little weary. He decided to climb up into a tree and take a rest for awhile --maybe even look out for any place he could go.

Marguerite looked around her. This was definitely not the jungle she had grown accustomed to. She pushed herself off the ground where she had woken up, though she couldn't quite remember going to sleep. Once she was standing she could see over the grasses, not that it really helped her get her bearings. She seemed to be in a sea of grass with only a few trees daring to break the monotony of the landscape.

She felt her pockets and looked around her, her pack was missing but at least her gun was still in its holster at her hip and the small knife that had saved her life several times was still in place. The tall grass left her vulnerable, especially if this was raptor territory. Though considering the looks of things it could be any number of things that she would have to worry about, including things she was as of yet unaware.

She began to walk towards the nearest tree, at least she could get out of the hot sun and maybe find a way to get her bearings.

Marguerite reached the shade of the tree and sat down. The others would probably be looking for her, she hoped at least. Though even if they were searching for her, there was not a way for them to find her. She wasn't even sure of how she had arrived in such a place. She sighed, a stiff drink would do a world of good at the moment but, of course, there were no tavern close by.

She needed a course of action because waiting around here would not be useful in the least and more than likely she would end up starving to death. She sighed softly. She knew she shouldn't stay in one place too long. She needed to figure out where she was and get her bearings, perhaps find some 'good' people to help her out.

She pushed herself up and brushed off her long skirt.

Marguerite looked around, it seemed that other than the sparse trees there was nothing but grass. She sighed. She couldn't stay here for long that was sure. There was no way to protect herself and the grass did not seem appetizing in the least. There was little choice for where to go and even less that could help her get a sense of direction.

It was uphill, downhill, left or right. At least uphill may give her a better view. She brushed a loose strand of hair from her face and began the trek uphill. This was already getting annoying.

Czedric had been looking out for awhile, but had gotten drowzy from scanning the endless feild and not having slept in a day. He had fallen asleep, waking up when a nut from an upper branch fell on his head. He woke up with agitation, trying to remember where he had been. He then realized he must have fallen asleep for a long time. He climbed down from his spot and was about to start heading out, when a flag went up in his senses.

someone was here recently

He flicked the air with his tongue and sniffed the ground over, trying to figure out what had been here. As he examined it, he deduced that it was human, and that it most likely went...

Sid turned torwards a hill in the horizon, and quickly set off running in that direction. He did not want to interact with anyone, but atleast this was only one person and not a mob of hunters. Maybe he could see where this person was heading off to and follow them. And thus, he ran as stealthily as he could, making no more than a peculiar twitch in the tall grass of his path.

Marguerite hiked up to the top of the hill, finally making it to the crest of it she stopped with a light huff. She looked around trying to see something that could help her figure out where she was. There was a building in the distance. It seemed somewhat out of place, surrounded by grass.

A shiver ran down her spine and she straightened up. She looked around looking for anything other than the building. She couldn't see a thing through the grass, and maybe she was just being paranoid. She shook her head and took a second to check her gun before looking back towards the building.

It didn't quite look like a house. More like a small station if anything. She couldn't see anyone around it but... there was only one way to be sure.

Czedric followed the scent up the hill, getting closer to the human he had detected. Once at the top, Sid stood up and peered over the grass around him. After looking in the area, he spotted a building in the distance. It seemed odd for a building to be around here in these perpetual grasslands, but it was better than nothing.

Sid tracked the direction of the scent once more, and it trailed to the direction of the building. He assumed that this person must be heading over there for whatever reason. Perhaps whoever this was lives over there. Maybe they have supplies.

Sid hoped there was, for he had not eaten in quite a long time. But then it struck him that this person may just be scavenging around just as he was. If there was food and other resources stored in the mysterious building, Sid would just have to make sure he acquired what he desired as well. Therefore, Sid continued to follow the person's scent as they walked towards the building.

Marguerite reached the building. She looked around the perimeter, it didn't seem like there was anyone or anything around, but maybe, just maybe there would be food or something else of use held in the small building. Knowing her luck this was probably going to end up getting her in trouble of some sort.

She cautiously pushed the door open to look inside. It was a simple building with some seats scattered around. It definitely looked like a station now. However, it seemed to be lacking some of the amenities that she was used to seeing such as a food vendor and a newspaper stand. Both of which would have been incredibly useful for her to figure out just exactly where she was.

Sid followed the person up until the end of the grass. He heard them enter the building, and Czedric decided to look around the back for another entrance. He circled the building, trying to spot a back door.

As he approached the back, he could see that there was an old rusty door. He stepped out of the grass after he was sure the person was not going to pop back out of the building, and tested the knob to see if it was locked or not. To Sid's luck, it was left open. Whoever was last here did not care about security. Or no one was still here at all.

The hinges had apparently also not been oiled in a long time, for when Sid pulled open the door, a squeek was let out.

Czedrick cursed himself for being so careless, and promptly slipped in through the part of the door he had opened. Once inside, he quickly examined the room he was in. It had apparently been a freezer room, but nothing was left in there except for a several old freezers bared empty. Hopefully another storage room would be somewhere in this building, as Sid crept closer to the door on the other side of the room.

Marguerite jumped as a sound came from around the back of the building. She turned towards the noise but there was nothing in her view. Her eyes narrowed and she brought out her pistol. Something had to have made the noise... right?

Of course it was an old building as well. She looked around a few moments more before passing it off as paranoia. However, she was still going to make sure to remain cautious just in case there was something here with her. She moved about the room and began to open the few doors that she could find.

The first one was a closet with nothing of importance. It was probably a janitors closet from the looks of it. The next one led out the back. She looked around a little bit, but didn't see anything out there other than a set of tracks. She wondered if a train still ran through here. It seemed to be an odd place for a train station to be.

Czedric could hear clamor in the main room, and decided to sneak a view at whoever was in there.

He slowly opened the swinging door, and swiftly dashed over to another room. By the time the door had swung back, Sid was already in what appeared to be an office. As he looked around, he could see that all that was left was a desk with a lamp and a broken portrait on it. Sid picked it up and examined it.

It was an older picture of several men in nice suits infront of a train track. But one of them looked different; there was a gentlemen who was not quite human. What was he? Sid could not tell. He folded the picture and stuck it down his backpack. He then waited, listening to see if he had gone unnoticed.

Marguerite had her hand on the door back into the main part of the building when she heard a soft noise from inside. She readied her pistol and slowly opened the door to look inside the main room she had just come from.

It looked just the same as before. It didn't seem as if anything had been disturbed. It was probably just her mind playing tricks on her. It had to be ... right?

She swallowed and crept softly into the room. "Hello?"She called out softly. If there was something here perhaps it spoke English. She scanned the room hoping whatever it was, if anything at all, it would come out.

Sid smirked as whoever was out there called out hello. It sounded a bit feminine, possibly apprehensive aswell.

Unless ofcourse, the person was just trying to fool him into letting his gaurd down. He would not have that; Czedric had to ensure his safety. Personal security should be the first priority at all times if someone wanted to survive in this world.

He took the lamp and bashed open the window to the front. He crawled out of the station and lept up, climbing ontop of the old tin roof. He tapped one of his sickle toe claws on the metal, signifing his prescence.

Marguerite nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of shattering glass. At least now she knew it definitely was not her imagination. There was something here. She could hear some movement as she assumed it moved outside.

She sighed softly. Whatever it was, she must have startled it or something. Then a soft rhythmic tap, tap sounded on the roof. Was it trying to get her to come outside? This all seemed quite off but there was only one way to figure all this out.

She put her pistol away but kept her hand on it just in case she should need it. She didn't want to come out ready to shoot and possibly frighten whatever it was more than she already had. She walked out side and looked to where the noise was coming from to see a reptilian humanoid creature. Not quite the lizardman she was used to back on the plateau. She swallowed.

"Do you speak English?" She asked softly. If there was going to be a fight there was no way she would win. Hopefully it was a reasonable sort of creature and she would be dinner.

Czedric watched as the woman slowly walked out of the building, keeping her weapon down but ready. She seemed curious, but carefull. He had to give her credit for that; most people just scream and shoot on sight. Perhaps this lady could be different.

"Well howdy there, I would believe I do speak english; thank you very much." Sid replied calmly, swishing his tail back and forth. He stared at her for a little bit, and then he added "Would you happen to have an idea of where we are? I get the feeling I am not in Texas anymore."

Marguerite tilted her head lightly as the man... lizardman, began to speak. He had that distinct American lilt even worse than Ned had when they had first met. It could be worse of course, for instance this creature could be lunging for her throat attempting to eat her. He at least seemed to have better manners than the last creature she met of the lizardman variety.

"I've personally never been to Texas but I'm pretty sure you're right on that assumption. I'm not sure where we are either though so I'm not really much help in that area. I'm not even really sure how I arrived here." She said keeping a friendly tone. Since this man wasn't trying to enslave or kill her perhaps they could become traveling companions. Which would give her a bit more security, since neither of them knew where they were or what was around.

"However, keeping to manners, my name is Marguerite. May I ask what yours is?" It would probably be rather odd to just start calling him lizardman, and quite rude as well.

Marguerite seemed quite fine talking to Czedric. Perhaps she had encountered other anomolays before. Nonetheless, it was comforting to know someone was fine with his lack of being truly human. Concievably, Czedric might be able to cooperate with her, for the moment atleast.

Sid climbed down from the roof and shook hands with Marguerite. He was carefull not to cut her with his claws or be too forceful.

"[color=green][b]The name is Czedric. Nice to meet you, Marguerite[/b][/color]." he replied, nodding his head.

He then looked around at the grassy feilds.

"[color=green][b]Did you happen to find anything inside?" [/b][/color]Sid inquired. He was thinking of doing a full search through now that he was no longer stalking. It would be much more easier that way.

Marguerite smiled sweetly as he carefully shook her hand. He was already far more considerate and kind than a good portion of the 'gentleman' she had the displeasure of meeting in London.

"Nothing of much importance but... I hadn't really looked over everything just yet. I was getting ready to move on to the next door when you startled me." She let out a light noise of amusement. "Nothing to eat at least and it doesn't look like theres much else around here."

She would have to remain careful but she didn't want to appear that way. After all it always tended to be best if she acted like the trusting and sweet person. It put most people at ease, which made them alot easier to work with.

Czedric nodded at Marguerite's reply. It was a shame that nothing usefull was here. But atleast he knew how to get to somewhere else.

"Very well I guess. The only thing to be done now is to keeping moving along. I would think that as long as we stay along where the train tracks would have been, we will end up in civilization eventually. Train tracks had to go somewhere once, didn't they?"

Sid had not fully accepted Marquerite yet. She was merely an aquantince who had not back stabbed him. Hopefully she would not act against him as time went on, for that would be an issue that he did not want to deal with. Marguerite could have her uses if they could cooperate.

Marguerite nodded softly. He was a logical type of creature and that would make things better for her. "Worse comes to worse and we'll just end up where we started, lost in the middle of nowhere but more than likely we'll find something that has more than this place." She said offering a warm smile.

She would make sure to remain charming and sweet unless the situation shifted. After all she wasn't going to allow herself to even begin to think that this creature could be a friend. That only caused trouble and considering that Czedric could easily rip her limb from limb it would probably end up very badly for her.

"So then, Shall we?" She asked with a soft motion towards the door that led out to the tracks.

"Lets shall" Czedric replied as he departed the station through the door. As he got near the end of the oasis that was the building in this sea of grassy plains, Sid scouted out the area around him and then waited for Marguerite to come closer.

As much as he was willing to cooperate, he was not going to be strolling hand in hand with this new woman. He would be sure to keep his distance in case she decided he was too much of a threat.

By now the time had gotten to be around 6 o'clock. The sun was considerably down in the sky, but not at the point where a sunset could be seen. Sid then realized that the day had gone by fast; he was even hungrier than he was in the morning. Sid was disappointed over not acquiring food, but just had to wait for now. Hopefully something could be scavenged or hunted down tomorrow. However, at the moment the only thing that could be done was to venture out into these fields and hope for the best.

Marguerite walked up beside Czedric, looking over the horizon. Hopefully they could find something fast and get some food at the very least. She sat down gracefully at the edge of the platform before jumping down into the grass.

At least there wasn't so much endless grass now that they were beside the train tracks. That at least meant that the train tracks weren't completely out of use or at least they hadn't been out of use for too long. Maybe they would luck out and find a train they could hop on.

Of course, she was never the one to have all that much luck.
